MOU SIGNING CEREMONY 2014
Platform Petroleum Limited, Operators of the oil fields of Umutu, Umueziogoli/Umuosele-Ebedei, and Akoku-Unor, known as the Egbeoma Field, Platform Petroleum Limited (PPL) and its joint partner Newcross Petroleum Limited has entered into a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will see to the smooth operations of the company and the host communities for the next four years.
The signing ceremony was done along with the commissioning of our Legacy Projects. The Managing Director of PPL, Mr. Emmanuel Konyebagu in his speech appreciated the cordial relationships between the communities, and the company. He stressed the importance of the MOU which is to regulate the relationship between the company and her host communities.
Speaking further, the Managing Director stressed that the document may not be perfect to the agreement of all the parties but contains the expected contributions of the company to the communities which is a key factor to the success of the relationships and which will get better with time and all that they need from the communities is a peaceful environment to operate. While commissioning some of the projects, the Executive Chairman of the Transition Committee Ukwuani LGA, Hon Ochor C. Ochor who was accompanied to the occasion by the secretary to the council, Mr. Solomon Ebinum thanked the management and staff of the company and her joint partner, Newcross Petroleum Limited for meeting with her Corporate Socio Responsibilities to the host communities, and urged them not to be dissuaded by any distraction but to continue to work with the communities for a continuous successful operations.
SIGNING OF THE MOU BY UMUTU COMMUNITY
At the end of the ceremony, some of the leaders of the host communities of Umutu, Umueziogoli/Umuosele and Akoku-Uno expressed their delight to the companies for meeting up with their social responsibilities to the communities. Chief Chris Nwajiogoli while thanking the company for the construction of the Okpala-Uku Palace at Umutu stressed that the signed MOU is a document that the company and the host communities need as a guide to succeed. The vice chairman of the Umueziogoli/Umuosele-Ebedei, Mr Sunday Okolocha who will soon be made the chairman of the Oil and Gas Committee of the Community, showered gratitude’s to the management of PPL/Newcross Petroleum Limited for their steadfastness to the development of the host communities..
